What ties you to others
Measuring and reporting on your social and environmental impact
A few indicators, genuinely maintained, rather than an exhaustive table abandoned in March.
Objectives
- Choose a small number of social and environmental indicators that can genuinely be maintained
- Use the data the business already produces rather than creating new data
- Distinguish a measurement from a display, and recognise what cannot be measured
- Report on your results, including when they are worse than expected
Programme
- Morning: Choosing few, and choosing well: What can be measured without extra effort: consumption, travel, employment, training · What cannot be measured and should no longer be claimed to be · Three to five indicators, and the reason for each
- Afternoon: Keeping it up over time: Who records, how often, in how many minutes · Reporting: to whom, in what form, how often · The disappointing result: why publishing it is better than keeping quiet about it
Prerequisites
None.
What you take away
Your three to five indicators, how they are recorded, and your first set of readings.
